Philips Lumea IPL Hair Removal

I have the Philips Lumia. Brown skin with dark brown hair so at the very limit of the skin tone that can actually use the at home IPLs. Honestly, it’s great. I’ve had it for about 2 years now. Used it every fortnight for the first couple of months and now use it once every 6-8 weeks (or when I remember). My arm and leg hairs stopped growing back after about 2-3 months use and I only get the odd hair now. Underarm hair and bikini line hair are more stubborn. I’ve heard that this is because the hair there is hormonal, but it definitely grows back much much slower. I even do the “undercarriage” which stings like a bitch but it slows everything down. Pretty sure if I was more consistent with use (like once a month) the underarm and bikini line hair would grow even slower.

My mum and I both use the Philips one. She’s been using it for a long time now and had amazing results. I’ve been using one for about 3 months and have results after about 2 months

I have one and I love it. I started to see the hair growth slow after the second time using it. You do like every two weeks and then go to every four/six weeks. It hasn’t completely stopped growth but I’ve gone from needing to shave every day to shaving maybe once a week. It’s worth it I think!

I have been using the Philips Lumea for a few years now. Honestly, I find that it takes a lot of time. Especially my legs. It does not remove hair permanently so you do have to keep using it, but it does thin out the hair plus I have a lot less hair then before. There are times where I don’t use it for months and only a portion of my hair grows back. Also, I used to have stubbles all the time. It didn’t matter if I shaved or waxed, I always had black dots on my legs. Since I started using the lumea my legs have become incredibly smooth.

From personal experience, I wouldn't recommend. I used it religiously for a while and had no results. However, other people have had good results!

I’ve had my Phillips Lumea for 10 years now and I don’t think there’s anything better on the market currently and still..

The Philips are the only ones you can use cordless. Useful if you have limited space and cords bother you. The Philips + Braun have separate attachments for body/face. Useful if you're finicky and the standard head (3-4 cm2) will be too for small areas like upper lips. In terms of flashing speed, the Philip Lumeas are known to be quite slow while the Brauns are known to be really fast. (But take note that ALL IPLs are fast on low power level 1, and gradually need more time to reload as you get to higher power levels.)

You nee to pay more. Phillips Lumea has changed my life.

I have the Phillips Lumea and half also had professional laser hair removal (different areas). I have very light skin but brown hair so am the ‘ideal candidate’. The Lumea is definitely not as effective as professional laser hair removal and takes a lot longer but for me it seemed a bit better financially because I knew the total outlay and could do whatever parts of my body and do ‘touch ups’ over a longer time myself. For my the cost of the Lumea would be the same as 2-3 professional sessions and I’d likely need 8-10 professional sessions for full results. I’ve been using it for probably 9 months now, very regularly at the start and less so now. It hasn’t completely eradicated my hair but it has reduced it so that I don’t really worry if I’ve forgotten to shave my legs etc.. I’m certainly not blown away but for the price I think it’s not a bad investment.

Just started using the Philips Lumea IPL 3 weeks ago, and so far I'm really pleased with it! ... Already noticing my hair is growing back thinner so it seems to work.
