Editorial Summary: SmoothSkin IPL devices mostly work well for lighter skin and thicker hair, but can be meh on darker tones and fine hair. Some folks love it, others get no results. Instructions can be confusing, and you gotta shave first which might irritate. Overall, decent at-home hair removal if you fit the right skin/hair profile.

So far it's working very well for me as well, for most body parts except for where my skin is much darker in intimate places because the auto sensor lowers the power, and my moustache hair which is barely there anyways.
I bought an IPL device from Smoothskin that’s meant for darker skin tones because I have a (barely) Fitzpatrick 4 skin tone (medium/tan). I’m almost done with my treatments, and I’ve seen obvious improvement, but I’m nowhere near where I wanted to be. My device is only about half as powerful as the highest setting on most other “name brand” devices because it’s intended for darker skin.
Works pretty damn well from what I can see. He has never down any form of IPL or Laser btw.
My last option is the SmoothSkin Pure Fit, this is the device I’ve head the least about but it seems promising, says it’s the most powerful, pretty good reviews and it’s priced the same as the ulike, tho no money back guarantee in the Uk and limited warranty.
Two years ago, I bought a SmoothSkin IPL device, but it did nothing for me despite paying a lot. 😫
Smoothskin Bare+ Ultrafast IPL for $130 CAD (reg $199) - 4 j/cm2 Smoothskin Pure Fit IPL for $315 CAD (reg $450) - 6 j/cm2 If these are your main choices, I'd go with the Pure Fit. FYI the average for IPL is 7 j/cm2 so both are a bit below average.

I was also wondering if anyone has tried any of the SmoothSkin Pure or Pure Adapt devices?
I'm looking at the Smoothskin Pure Fit device and I think I fit into their acceptable hair colour chart but I'm Canadian and with the exchange rate and shipping and all it'll be quite a big investment so I thought I'd get a few hot takes on whether it's likely to pay off before pulling the trigger.
